is it illegal to sell a car to someone that has been labelled as "junk or "irreparable", cause the 1988 camaro i purchased today was in a major accident and branded as junk, i just found this out through carfax

What does the title say on it? if is says junk or salvage you might not be able to re-register it without going through a lot of headaches.

It's not illegal to sell Salvaged cars. In fact the last car I had, which was a truck, had a salvage title and I had no problems re-registering it.

But if it's labeled junk or some other title like that you are kinda fubared.

First off I woulden't trust carfax as being end all truth.. I have purchaced many cars over the years and I know some were wrecks , the title should say if the car was salvage or previously damaged (Insurence claim paid) ETC but that dosen't necessaraly mean it was totaled, flood cars are a perfect example of a car that can be considered a write off yet resold legaly, if you have a title you should be OK if you have doubts have the car checked over by a shop you trust ...and watch out for this type of thing in the future a car that sounds like a good deal sometimes is not ...

turns out the brand on it was a mistake by the ministry of transportation, the paperwork and pictures and all that was sent in along with the ownership (which said the car had no brand, and it was issued the same day the brand was put on the car), so it hopefully will be sorted out in couple weeks
