Best way to Touch up paint...
I know to not use the little fingernail polish style touch ups...
My new '90 RS has a few spots on the hood and roof, that look as if they got hit by falling debris and nicked the paint enough to eventually rust...
the spots are very small, but are definately rust... I would like to repair without an air spray gun... Not enough money currently to get professionally painted...
My idea is to sand areas down, fill if needed, and spray with duplicolor automotive spray cans. Sand down with 1500 and 2000 grit to remove the massive amount of orange peel i'll have, and clear over.
I have done certain things wit paints before such as tail lights, and got those aeresol to a mirror finish.
But are there easier ways to go about this rather then paying the man?
tuition is expensive and money is tight, $6 spray cans are a bit much so please none of the, Save your dollars and get it done right. I'll try but i cant have a crappy car for the time being, my degree is 5 more years away...
thanks

I would have a read of this article - down the bottom it goes through a nice tutorial on repairing small stone chips and nicks in the paint.
If the spots are only small that's what I'd recommend, I've used this technique quite successfully to repair quite large chips before.
