Cervini's 3 inch cowl

Hey guys - I've been doing a lot of searching the past couple days, and have decided I want to get the 3 inch cervini cowl. I do not however, ahve a clue where to buy them. Anyway, if you guys could lte me know where to get them, that would be great. I don't think that Cervini directly sells them.

Also, if you have pics of your cervini 3 inch, post em up, cause they are sexy!

I actually have the 3 inch ram air hood from them and its been nothing but a pain in the a#$. If you want a fiberglass hood buy a lift off not a bolt on.

Really? - I just dropped in on this post because I was planning on the same hood for my car. Could you elaborate on the issue with bolt-on vs pin-on?

After doing searches, it seems like overall people like the quality and fit of the Cervini hoods....now you have me wondering. If they are no better than anyone else, Glasstek is close to me....hmmmm.

The 3" Cervini hood is the BEST COWL HOOD for thirdgens HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This hood is gorgouse, the shipping was fast, and the finished underside is emaculate. The body guy I had just apint my car couldn't stop saying how nice it was. The BOLT ON IS DEF THE WAY TO GO. If you are getting the hood for a daily driver, get a bolt on. You will thank me. If you are still unsure, do more research, you wil find that everyone likes the company, the fit, the finish, and the look. Not to mention the little work that is needed to get them to fit PERFECT. IT was worth every penny. Great hood. Simply great. Anyone who says otherwise, is just otta line and/or has a car that is not straight and they think it is the hoods fault that it isn't as twisted as their car.

Hood is great, I ca't stress that enough. DO NOT get a galsstech, or even a harwood. Just be smart and get the Cervini right from their site.

google the name and you will get the site. I called and ordered over the phone. Real nice people to deal with.

good luck.

All I've read about them is what you guys just said.

-dennisbernal91z - nice ride!

If ya don't mind, I have a couple Q's you may be able to answer...

The story: I have a air-gap type intake, and the hood is more of a "need" than a "want", since the only thing I can fit under the stock glass hood is a drop base aircleaner with a measely 2" thick air cleaner element. I tried a 3" thick element and the hood won't close.

Q: You think I can run a non-drop base air cleaner and a regular 3" thick element with a Cervini 3" cowl?? - That's what I'm hoping...

Q2: You might not know this one, so anyone answer - Does the Cervini hood weigh more than a stock 83 glass hood? The one that's on it is pretty darn light. Not that big a deal I guess but my struts might not hold the hood up....

Thx in advance!

My hood is not super heavy. Your struts will be fine. It is not a tank or anything. It is a GREAT hood like I said b4.

As for fitting things under there, thats why I had to get mine. I have a 385, that is fed by a vic. jr. intake and on top of that I have a 1" spacer, 3/4" N20 plate and then the carb. On that, I have a 3" drop base filter. If it was a little smaller diameter, (it is the moroso drop base, maybe a 14" dia.... not really sure) you could fit even more.

If you get the hood, and have that intake, and are not running spacers of anykind, then you will fit with a non drop base. If you add a spacer or anything like that, you will need a slight drop base, or you will have to get a slightly smaller diameter filter.

I have a great article in an old car craft that shows HP/TQ versus 8 different fiter set ups. suprisingly the "no filter" wasn't the best.

Turns out one of the best was from a slightly smaller diameter filter and a not too thick element. I am gonna look it up and get what size they found to be best, to fit in my car. It was a great article.

Hope this all helps. The weight will be in the same ballpark, so don't stress about that. The fit/finish is and added clearance are the main reasons why this hood kicks ***.

When I got my hood i put it on and about 6 months later the studs started coming out of the fiberglass. I ended up make it a lift off after the studs completely came out.

Can you elaborate on what the "studs" are? I am not sure I understand what could have started coming out.

The 4 mounting points from where the hinge bolts to the hood.

yes, the latch asembly all bolts right on. Same holes and all. they provide new screws. I just took the stuff off my stock 91 Z28 hood and washed it in the sink, then sprayed them black with paint from home depot, let them dry and slapped them on. All works like a charm. I couldn't be happier. Def give the car the look I wanted. Some people that have no idea about cars, (my mom) said that it looks like the car came with the hood. I hate body mods that you can TELL where done. Very sleek and refined. Esspecially without that ridge that harwood loves to put in the middle of their hoods.

I had a harwood 3" cowl hood and it was ok, but I was at a swap meet last year and Cervini's was there with there truck full of hoods and I decided to get there 3" Cowl hood after seeing it in person. I made a good choice because comparing the harwood to the cervini's the harwood is a peice of sh****. Its is the best Cowl hood out there.

DerekKraese:

That opinion/ post says it all. A guy who had a harwood, and got a Cervini. Then called the harwood crap. haha. Well if anyone wants measurments or more pics of the hood, let me know. I am lovin' it.

I've got a Harwood 3" cowl on my car. Fitment was a BIG issue, took almost two days to get it right, and even now it's not correct, but it still looks good. When I get some money, I'm defiantly buying a Cervini.... or a Camaro.
