Clean body design (help)???

well to start off I have a project car in high school and I have a thread in the apperence section. So anyway I am in the middle of body work and I have thought about doin a shaved door handle kit on my car, also I was planning on taking off all the side markers to really give the car a super clean look. Well as I'm sanding I come across the gas door. ????????? what do I do with the gas door I ask myself, and thats why I'm here. Does anyone know of anything neat or different or evan somthing that just looks super good to do to the gas door? I just think it would look goofy to have every thing really clean lookin and still have the gas door stock. Also I dont really want to do any major fab to move the gas tank neck.

some people have installed a gas door release inside the car like some cars have. or you could install some kind of spring loaded hinge where you just push on the edge of the door to pop it open. either way, it would allow you to shave off the piece where it sticks out for a cleaner look.

I've seen where someone used the gas door from a Fiero once...it was really clean, can't remember where I ran across it at though...

You could most likely get one from a Safari Van. I've been driving one so I don't have to take the bus, and it has a gas door opening mechanism under the dash. And is smooth along the side of the body.

theres alot of different vehicles out there with cable release fuel door, and would be an easy conversion

cut out and weld one on the bird, smooth it out, primer it and paint it

simple
its nothing that i would ever consider doing to mine but then i am a total purist when it comes to external appearance of these cars espcially the 82 83 84 ones, to me they came off the assembly line perfect as can already be in the appearance category, the regular t/a's and the s/e's anyways, too smooth or too much GFX crap is bad imho

and alot of ppl wouldnt really notice the minor change except only ppl who really knwo these cars well

so you have to weigh wether its really worth the trouble/effort to go through all this, and if you will meet the deadline to complete it

the car is going to look badass no matter what

good luck either way
