Door Weatherstripping

Hi,
Been doing a search on the Door Weatherstripping, but finding conflicting info.

I need the weatherstripping that seals the door to the car.
I went to GMpartsdirect.com and they have 2 different seals, one says 'seal bottom and the other says 'weatherstrip'

The one named weatherstrip is 102 per side (ouch)
the one named bottom is only $10 per side.

So I'm trying to think, what the bottom seal is? I thought the door seal was all one piece? is it not?

Next question, is there anyhwere else to get the seals that might be a better price? 102 a side, is more then I've spent on anything else so far.

I've seen some people mention softseal, some love it other hate it? How are their door weatherstripping?

I've used the Softseal and found it to be absolutely fine. I'm only aware of the one piece door seal too.

How much did you get the softseal for?

Does it look like the OEM stripping? I thought I remember reading that on the ends, where you screw it down was different. Can't remember what they said tho.

Got mine for $69.95 off Fleabay, the ends are slightly different to original but doors shut fine and no leaks.

From what I believe the door seals are suitable for T-top and FHC cars, is the item you mentioned for around $200 the T-top seal?

I've emailed the seller to see if there is a difference.
Hope not!

The one I saw for 200, looks like it comes iwth the door seals and then something that goes on the t-top itself.

my guess would be the seal that runs along the actual door pannel in between the door itself and the material fiber board. this is only a single strip that runs the entire length of the door and is paper thin which would make sense for the cost.

as for the door seal i'm getting ready to redo all of my seals on my project camaro. the seals i have are still in good shape but i want all brand new seals and i certainly can understand your concern with price. from what i have seen the gm seals are of a nice quality but obviously they are outsourced so i know that when it comes time i will be buying the cheaper seals i find and comparing them to the gm counterparts before i splurge for gm pieces.

at which point i'll sell off the softseal or my gently used gm seals. important parts for these cars like seals, lights, etc. that wear out the fastest are very expensive to replace if you want them to look original and new unfortunately. if you are not building a show car like i am and you are on a budget i'd go with the cheaper in all reality. it's just smarter sense.

it's the important things like electrical or otherwise that you don't want to skimp out on. if the seals are junk and don't last i'm sure you'll at least get 2 years or so out of them which is worth it in the cost.
