Which spoiler will fit?

I understand that in '86 the U.S. Gov. decided that everyone needed a 3rd brake light. I have an '88 IROC that has the light built into the spoiler. I had saved an '84 spoiler in hopes of painting to match without having to do any body work on my stock spoiler. When I went to fit it, I found that they are shaped different(mainly the angle of the spoiler). Any clue if there are any others that will work without body work? I like mine otherwise. I realize that there are a multitude of different 3rd gen spoilers. Any help is appreciated

I don't think so because my dad's car has a third brake light and it has been out for a while now and he hasn't gotten pulled over for it. Same with the license plate on the front of the car. I stick mine on the front right side of the dash and nothing yet. Heck I don't even have a rear view mirror (fell off, gotta put a new one on) and nothing.

To be honest, most cops won't know whether it is pre 86 or not. I would say you are safe.

If a cop pulls you over for something like a front liscence plate, tail light, ect., they are usually looking at you for something else too. They do have better things to do than write tickets for minor infractions. None of my vehicles have 2 plates, all have excesive window tint. When I do get pulled over, I roll my tinted windows down, keep my hands where they're visable, I'm polite, give him/her what paper work they want, and hope for the best. So far none have said anything about the above infractions.
Back on topic, is there a spoiler that is the same shape as mine without the 3rd brake light, or am I going to learn some autobody skills?

Daniel U,

Is you 3rd brake light not working? If so I may be able to help you fix it without replacing the whole spoiler.

No, the silly thing works fine. I just don't like the look of it. I shaved my antenea and rear bumper when the car was re-painted. I guess I'll have to wait a while.

Not until I find the correct replacement and convince my wife I need to spend more money on paint for it. Sorry
