good deal or bad deal?

First off Happy Easter, now to the car..

1984 Berlindeta with 115k miles on the body, 305, t-tops(leak) engine rebuilt says it has 25k on it no proof but does run and start with no nocks and idles really good.
heat and ac do not work, stock radio bairly works, door locks want click when you press buttons but do not suck the locks in to lock it, power windows work but a little slow, needs new weatherstripping for t-tops, needs all new interior, needs new headliner, and needs weather stripping on rear hatch. needs some bodywork and a paint job, new break lines, digital dash i see that the tach works dont know if the speedohmeter works, hes the 2nd owner and says it works, needs new tires and i think thats all i can think of as of right now, the pics can describe the rest.. oh and he wants 500$ for it

----------
oh also it needs new hood struts, and hatch struts, and as you can see in the last picture the windshield washer light is on.. if you look at the picture before the last you can see the tank is full.... and the battery light keeps going on and off(keep in mind he had to charge the battery before he could start it) but nevertheless the engine ran sound no nocks or chirps while idling and reving engine

I'd say it's worth it, if you're looking to rebuild it.

Re: good deal or bad deal?

One thing I've learned after rebuilding my 69 bird, 87 camaro, and where I'm currently at with my 84 TA...is that if you have a number in mind that you think it will cost, then double it and that's going to be closer to your end cost.
That berlinetta looks to be in pretty good shape. what do the floor pans look like?

I say go for it. Only thing I don't like about it is the power crap I had that on my burly and hated it so much none of it ever worked.

Re: good deal or bad deal?

hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like someone tried to half *** cover up rust along the doors, rockers, wheel arches etc etc.
Fixing rust can be a big problem.

Re: good deal or bad deal?

yes there is rust under the door, a little bit in the fenders, undneath seems to be pretty solid from what i can see(2 tires are flat!) cant get under these cars when they are full nevermind when 2 are flat
----------
im leaning towards no i dont really want to buy another project at this time i guess, the rust and cracked windshield is making me steer awayfrom it

Re: good deal or bad deal?

it has a nice digital dash that is if everything works Id say it worth 500 bucks but it gonna take a lot to restore it Id say just keep it as a driver and restore another one

Re: good deal or bad deal?

It needs too much to be worth it. You could basically get a nice roller, swap in an interior and engine, and have better luck in the long run as far as cost, time, and getting what you want.

I'd guess that's 15,4k and the last digit is the tenth of a mile.

Re: good deal or bad deal?

I'd say it's definitely worth it, but my opinion is a little biased...

I love 84-86 Berlinettas. The digital dash, the controls right next to the steering wheel..and even the steering wheel itself....the suspension, too. Berlinettas were more of a luxury car so they have a bit more of a luxury suspension so it's a little nicer on the streets.

yeah it has a digi dash and stand alone radio pod, but thats all that can really be "stripped out" and make money on, rest is trash, it has no head liner, all of the interior is ripped/stained/terrible, i could get something for the motor it has a "25k miles on it" after a rebuild, hes the 2nd owner and it does run great without puddering out or anything. i did think about making some money for my rs tahts why i stopped to look at it and if it was in good condition for cheap it woulda been the girlfriends car but its not worth the work
