HOOD BLISTERS ???
i have been thinking about getting the hood blisters that HAWKS sells . does anyone have any feedback on them ? i.e. quality , fit , drilling measurements , and so on . i am getting ready for new paint on my 89 rs , along with new t top seals . any feed back [ no B/S its my car and i will do what i want ] would be good . my car is a cruiser , not a racer . 27-29 m.p.g. on long trips . just want to improve looks on an already good looking car . 305 T.B.I. ,T5 , 3.08 , with mild mods for the no way people on m.p.g. . any feedback on the blisters would be good . thanks to all .

Re: HOOD BLISTERS ???

I have a set I'm fitting onto a jongbloed hood. They appear
to be well made, but I haven't had them on the road yet. You
do have to finish prep them and have them painted, so as
mentioned, you can probably find a stock Z hood and stock
blisters for similar costs. They seem to be more suited for
mounting on fiberglass hoods where you don't have the stock
indents..
I made heavy paper layouts of the undersides, and used them
for layout/drilling of the hood. The bolts are just layed into
the fiberglass molds, so no standard template would be available.

Heres a set of used OEM ones;

You do know that you will need a Z28 or IROC hood don't you?
I'm not sure, but I've read/heard the aftermarket ones are not always an exact fit and sometimes need to be worked a little.

Re: HOOD BLISTERS ???
Been a while, but the car and hood just got back from
the body shop. Here are some quick pics. The blisters
still need some finish sanding to better conform to the
hood curves, then bolted down. (The hood is not latched
or hinged in the pics either, just resting on the rubber
bushings on the fender. The blisters are just sitting in
the holes in the hood, not bolted down tight)
