Rear glass metal trim.

The metal strip that goes around the rear hatch on our cars tend to rust pretty quick. Does that metal trim that surrounds the rear glass come off any? It looks like its 2 seperate pieces and might can be removed for painting. Or, is this part of the rear glass altogether and cannot be removed?

Re: Rear glass metal trim.

Its glued on and is part of the rear metal lid. If you want to remove it, remove the hatch, take the rear lid off the glass, and then carefully pry the metal trim off the hatch.

Best bet is to just mask off the glass, sand of the rust and re-paint it. I'm gonna be doing that this weekend.

Re: Rear glass metal trim.

Just mask, sand, and repaint. I sanded/repainted mine about 3 weeks ago. Very easy and cheap. Made a huge difference in the way the rear of the car looked. I also did the same thing to the metal pieces on the T-tops above the windows because the paint was faded off.

Re: Rear glass metal trim.

I did mine in June. Was a pain in the *** to mask because i only had notecards to shove under the metal. So i had to cut to get it to fit the round parts...
