body/paint work

i had incident a while back involving my front bumper cover and fender. yesterday I went to my local pick-n-pull and found a cherry bumper and fender, but it was gray color and my car is red. What should i be paying attention to when I take it to the paint shop? i know to get a good prep option, but should i make sure they are painting it with something special since its a plastic bumper cover. Also, i notice most thirdgens that have been painted have a different shade of teh color on the front bumper when compared to teh rest of the car. How can make sure thats not going to happen to mine?.

With your different color paint question...Red paint is one of the fastest to fade. You'll never get it to be exact with out repainting the whole car... You can get it close but never perfect... As soon as that red paint has been out in the sun it starts fading and seemings your is a minimum of 15 years if your talking a 3rd gen and the original paint job... Id say its defently faded some.. So i highly doubt you will get them both the same color... Just my 2 cents.

Oh no....Im repaiting the whole entire car red again. Its just that i dont want the front bumper to be darker shade of red because the undercolor is gray.

oh sorry i miss understood... Are you primering?... Im nto sue how much effec the gray would have.. But what i would do is sand down your coat right now.. Then get some duplicolor(thats what i always use... its like 4 bucks a can...) Primer and just put a coat on and sand it then.. Your safe no matter what.
