Thanks!! A friend of a friend of mine and his brother in Leitchfield KY did the work. They do paint work on the side while working a regular job. They used to be body shop guys but they got out of the business. Now they get work by word of mouth and rent a booth whenever anyone needs some paint and body work done.

looks real good in the pics, i few things i would do , paint the headlight buckets black , repaint the grill so it looks new , and get new front markers since the old ones look crappy , but it looks good mostly just do the front markers and grill and your set. looks good.

I plan on replacing the current grille with the Z-28 foglight grille. Replacing the markers is a good idea, I think I'll do that, Thanks. Later on I am planning on getting the pockets painted black and maybe some racing strips painted on as well.

 

How hard is it to remove the front markers, can they be accessed from the back without having to remove anything or can you remove the front lense covers some how?

hay jasson the car looks great, can we see some pictures of it before paint. i am going to be painting mine soon and would like to see some paint prep pictures if you got them.

 

jason1313-there are two screw to take out on each side,real simple to take out you should check out the aftermarket ones there kinda coo i dont have apic right now but i can show you mine there all nice and clear, and if your talking about the side markers they just have two pins holding em in also very easy. i can get pics of that too if you like

I'd leave the buckets alone but defanetly paint the grille (Semi-Gloss) or Satin

Sorry Irockid86, I don't have any body work pics, the guy that painted it for me did all the body work. This is what it looked like before painting though.

The paint was faded and the clear coat was peeling all over the car. The hood was primered black cause there was so much clearcoat peeling off. I didn't primer the hood, the guy I bought it from told me that was why it was primered.

Thats the exact same thing happening to mine. I can literally peal off the clear coat anywhere on my car and whenever it rains, it bubbles more and more. Same color to.

I've heard that happens to alot of the third gens, something to do with the paint used at the factory in van neys california (I think thats how its spelled).

 

i would gladly pay that to make my car look like that. it looks fantastic. dont allow anything to scratch it. looks very sharp

 

The paint looks good, change for the Z grille & lights instead of the RS grille, but PLEASE don't black out the headlight buckets!

 

After further consideration, I don't think I will black out the pockets. Definately going to go with the Z Grille though. Thanks for all the input.

Friguy, that sucks the insurance company wouldn't pay for your paint job. Did you have full coverage or did they screw you somehow?

 

they screwed me,ok here's what happened, I had missed a payment for December. its my sisters insurance but I was on the policy aswell.so I had to pay half of the bill.
but I didn't miss a payment because I had sent it out and it got lost in the mail and it was recovered,it even had the posted date.
and I got in a accident on January 12th 2007 right before race day at the strip. and so I called my insurance and they said my insurance wasn't covered for the month of January...my payment was payed for January aswell.

this insurance are bad people.

ok the insurance was in my sisters name and I was added to the policy,
so I thought I was covered. so they couldn't suspend my registration to my car because it had insurance, but according to the insurance I wasn't on the policy, so instead, they suspended my license for a year.

I wasn't sighted for the wreck since that day it was hailing for the first time in the city where I work,and I wasn't speeding, so I slid on an icey lane and lost control. hit a center divider and hit a van.my license was only suspended because they couldn't suspend my car registration.

and after all that I closed out my insurance went to a better one.

but I gotta pay for a new paint job on the front end. I will take pics to show what needs to be fixed.also that gay van gonna cost me more.

 

Wow, talk about a bad run of luck. Sorry to hear all that. I guess you have to pay for the damage to the van as well? Hope everything works out for you.

It's GM Bright Red, not sure what the code is. They used an Acrylic paint.

There was a small dent in the left fender, other than that there wasn't alot of body work.

I did buy some clear front and side bumper markers though to replace the factory hazed ones, should get them in about a weeks time.
