Re: 17 in WHEELS ?

Depends on preference. Both will "work", but some people like them "tucked" just inside the fender, and other people like them "tucked" so the tire is flush with the outer most part of the fender.

OK,does 5 put the wheel closer to the quarter lip,and 5.5 put it just inside the lip? Im just wondering about the back wheels,Im going to run 17x8 on the front.

Re: 17 in WHEELS ?

Back spacing is the measurement from the back edge of the wheel, to the surface that bolts onto the disc. The bigger the number, the further IN they will sit. 5.5 bs is usually for 10 in wheels. I just sent my 9.5's to get their tires mounted so i dunno what they are, but they ran 285, and i was very happy with the way they looked.

Im not sure if itll sit exactly as i described, but if ur unsure i would get the bigger back spacing, and fine tune it with slip on spacers. Ill let you know what mine are when they get back. But they sit just tucked in with the inner part of the fender.

Cool, that will work,I like the way the rear wheels sit on that black car, looks good,I could live with that look, just tucked would be ok also, just dont want no rubbing, just let me know.
Im looking at Center Line Wheels Sundance Series Retro Wheels in 17x8 with 4.5 front backspace, and 17x9.5 on the rear,Summit list 2 backspace,5 and 5.5,I just need to tell them what one I need,I can use a spacer, but I would rather not,I have 1/8 in,1/4 in spacers, thanks

Re: 17 in WHEELS ?

I think most people with 9.5 are running 5.5 backspacing. I've got 10" and running 6.25"

Re: 17 in WHEELS ?

If you like the look of pondriver's go with teh 5.5 bs. Thats the tuck that looks nice. Yours will stick out just a tad more, but not noticeably.

Since he is running a 10" wide, you would need a 9.5" to be 5.75 bs to look exactly like that. But a 5.5" will look pretty darn close. The 5.0" will bring it almost flush with the outer edge.

You dont NEED to run spacers with either, you wont rub. BUT if you decide to "fine tune" the look, an 1/8 or 1/4 inch spacer wont hurt.
