4th gen bi-wing on 3rd gen
I have seen the posts about putting a 4th gen wing on a 3rd gen.
Think this would to "atrocious(sp)"on a 3rd gen?
any other modds needed to mount it that would be different than a stck 4th gen?
and can anyone tell em exactly what kind of spoiler it is..name?company? etc.
thanks

Re: 4th gen bi-wing on 3rd gen
I've never even seen that wing on a 4th gen. When was it ever an option, or is it aftermarket.
If you want a highrise on a thirdgen, get a highrise camaro wing, or for a pontiac use the aerowing (85-90 TA/Formula). You won't have to modify them to fit, they will fit as they were created for the cars in the first place.

i am sure it is aftermarket.
and i cannot find any decent wings of any kind that are reasonable to put on the formula.

Buy an aftermarket fiberglass aerowing. Looks stock, saves weight, and looks good as well. Its also functional.

Re: 4th gen bi-wing on 3rd gen
It should be pretty obvious its NOT going to work. Look at the whole deck lid.

I'm not to start crap but I agree that if you're going to go for the tuner look get a honda or something. Keep the tuner crap off of the last of the "Great American Muscle." Do what you want, it is your car after all, but keep in mine the intention of these vehicles and the intention of tuners. Third Gen's are not meant to be *****s that being said you should go for the original look and avoid the tuner look. To each their own though and you are entitled to your opinion.

Looks like a Starion to me.
As for a big wing on the street, sure, cause you are going to use it. Wings increase drag, reduce top end, reduce fuel economy, and add weight on top of that. NM that the hatch lid was never meant to take the weight and downforce of a large wing. Lets name the attaching points for a rear wing on a 3rd gen. The Deck Lid, and what is the only mounting point for the deck lid? The hatch, which is made of glass BTW. A large wing can put over 100lbs of downforce on the back end at 60mph, and at 120mph even more.
So, no, its not a good idea to put one on a 3rd gen, even from a structural POV.
Its your car, put a big double decker on it if you want, but you'll get nothing but grief for it.

Re: 4th gen bi-wing on 3rd gen
If its a 4th gen camaro spoiler/wing, it will not work. They make a 4th gen firebird spoiler like that. For a stock 4th gen firebird trans am spoiler, the middle 2 supports have to be extended.
