87 Berlineta Quarter panels

Is there a company that makes reproduction quarter panles, because im working on restoring a 87 camaro berlinetta, and don't much feel like patching/bondoing the current ones, also i have a question not related to the body at all, but could i put a 383 in my car, or does a 383 use different motor mounts than a 305, also would a 383 fit in the engine compartment without having to chop up car in there, because if it fits ill put in new motor mounts

Thanks
-Tj

no idea on the 1/4 panels but all small blocks are the same size and use the same mounts

Re: 87 Berlineta Quarter panels

any quarter panel off any thirdgen camaro works. they just look different because of the ground effects that come from the front bumper (and the gfx can be removed there) ....so hit the junk yard

Re: 87 Berlineta Quarter panels

So i take it i couldn't steal a quarter panel off of a 87 firebird, cause i have one of those I'm parting out, actually i don't need the entire panel, just the lip on it, and yes i know its a bitch welding them in

Re: 87 Berlineta Quarter panels

my 85 berlinetta had a rough patch one the rear quarter panel,i eventually had it professionally done, it just refused to turn out right when i welded pieces in. as for the motor, the intake and the heads may sit a little higher. all blocks are not created equal, there are one-piece rear-main and two-piece, depends on the car and the only issue i forsee would be the height, i only have a 305 and i had to cut the hood bracing to fit my 14" air filter in, just to give an idea how little room there is.

if you just need the wheel lip it should work, but the whole quarter from firebird to camaro differs, an example is the taillights, camaros wrap around while firebird tails dont.

masterhacker198 Where are you located ??

I've got a Passenger side rear quarter panel from a Z28 for sale.....$125 But I will not ship it. It might be an option for you depending on where you are located !?

The shape of the lip is actually a little different too, so depending on how much is needed, it may not work either.

To the person who said a 383 may be taller, the rear seal design has nothing to do with the hight of the engine. It all comes down to the intake/carb/air cleaner combo

Dont worry about the heads sitting a higher unless your currently block is decked or you plan on using some sort of aftermarket block (even if it is decked the amount wouldn't be noticeable by the naked eye), they will be the same height, valve covers can vary depending on what you use, intakes also vary in height, but as far as demensions all sbc's are the same size. 1 and 2 peice rms's will not make a differece as far as size, just a difference in what flexplate, flywheel, balancer, and oil pan you will use. Motor mounts are all the same as far as stock mounts go, but you should probably replace yours since they're old anyway, the only thing is with new mounts the engine may sit a little higher since old mounts tend to sag.
