replacing all lock cylinders with no keys
i just got my old car back from the police impound but i have no keys for it. i got the doors open but with out the keys i cant pop the hatch to replace all of the locks. i dont have the ignition key either. do you guys have any idea how to pop the hatch with out the key and how to get the ignition lock out with out keys.

talk to local gm dealer they should be able to re key the car to the original key code hopefully nothing has been changed

the locks are not the original ones so gm probably wont be able to help my main question is about the hatch lock and ignition cause the doors are open

You don't need the key to replace the igniton key. You just have to remove the steering wheel and turn signal switch then pull the screw/pin that holds it in out. As for the hatch if it used the same key as the door you could take one to a lock smith and have a key cut for it. Mike

For the ign. key you're going to have to remove the steering wheel to remove and replace the lock cylinder.

my camaro door key opens a few cars with that style GM blank, try a few out if you got some sitting around or a friends with some GM keys, you may get susprised and only have to make a copy of theirs

a locksmith should be able to make you keys for the car for a reasonable price.. I'd call a couple of locksmiths before going through the hassle..

thats too funny,I've heard of this,and I have about 11 or 12 different gm keys and none work on another carLOL!

you really wanna be cheap...climb in the back...lay on the hump. Take out the 4 screws to the headliner trim above you. Remove the hatch shock bolts inside the car, take out the four bolts to the hatch glass, raise it up about 5-6 inches, to expose the latch loop. Get a saws-all and cut one side of the loop, raise the hatch glass to about a foot or more, you'll be able to tell how car you can go before your going to break something, and by the time you raise it all the way you'll be able to get the saws all in to get the other side of the loop. Make sure you have one or more capable people on the other side of the hatch to catch/hold it against the car until you lower it back into the hinge holes. Done this 3 or 4 times without ruining interior panels, hatch, or car, all you need to do then is replace the latch loop which will cost you less than $5 at a junk yard. Don't ask me how i figured it out but after the first one works i continued to do it to the other two, saved the time and gas of going to a lock smith and i was parting the cars out anyways, but like i said...i didn't ruin a thing. Otherwise i suggest the locksmith. Good luck!

the lock smith typically comes to you, my friend had a locksmith come out and make keys for his car after he lost em, costed about $60 for 2 door keys and 2 ignition, that was on a non-vats car though..

idk if you have all tried this but on my firebirds ive gone to the back and laid down on the hump ; removerd the plastic piece of the light and pushed the rest of it in and then i got a long screwdriver and if you look into the hole where the light was you'll see a lil square hole just put ur screw driver in there and twist it and it will open
