Stock Hood?

I don't know why, but for some reason I want to keep the stock hood on my 88 camaro. I had a stock hood on my 82 Z28 and I had some clearance issues with the motor. The air cleaner wanted to push up the center of the hood. Is there anything I can do to stay with the stock hood if I want to run a carbuerated motor with an air cleaner?

Is a drop base air cleaner something that you can find easily? How much more clearance could I expect to gain?

Re: Stock Hood?

Cut a ****in fourteen inch hole in your hood, (where the air cleaner is) and just weld a scoop on there and repaint it. If that doesn't sound like so much fun, look around your area for a speed shop. They should be able to track down that drop base cleaner for you.

Re: Stock Hood?

I said I wanted to keep the stock hood. Not hack it all up. I like the flat clean look of the factory hood. I found this drop base on summit's site http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku so hopefully it will be enough to get the clearance that I need.

Re: Stock Hood?

Should be, depends one which intake you run but you can make some carbed setups fit under a flat hood.
