I have the exact same hood gap, and also do not have a bracket in that indicated location. Can someone post a pic of this bracket and what does it do? I don't ever remember there being a secondary attachment for the hood nose to latch on to, and even if there was I'm not sure how it would fix the gap other than bending the nose downward....

If I am not mistaken it will actually push the nose up some, and that should make it line up better. I had the same problem on my 86 TA, and after putting that bracket back in, the hood and bumper lined up right.

Interesting.
I'm going to research this, I'd like to fix the gap on mine.

There is a triangle bracket that you are missing
The hole labeled as II is not used
The bracket wont lift the nose that much, it is more for stability

Now why the hell would anyone just have their support bracket laying around to take a picture of???

I dont know, but I do. As you can see the bottom of mine is bent becuase some jackass before me appartently tried to jack up the car by the core support. btw, thats where the bottom of this goes, is the core support, that's why it pushes up on the panel, which therefore pushes the edge of the nose up which helps it line up with the hood, and yes it will push the edge of the nose up, because mine lined up perfectly until this was removed(there is a reason behind it being temporarily removed but its a long story).
btw, I like you're username Gunner823. Gunner is actually my boys name...my boy being a 100+lb German Shephard, its also the beginning of my email addy.
