Sanding down plastic ground effects?
I have an 87 Iroc that I'm converting to the 91-92 Z28 body style (ground f/x, spoiler). It's soon time to sand down the plastic pieces and primer them. The only problem is I never sanded plastic before. Is 300 grit okay on my orbital or is it too rough?
Thanks.
Thanks.

300 will be fine, if I were you though I'd just wet sand the parts with 400 grit, all you have to do is remove the old clear coat before you can prime/paint the new parts.

you dont even have to get all the old clear off, its better if you dont, the only reason you would sand other than to get somthing into shape is so that the paint has ridges to stick into......id DA em down with 320 til they were smooth, primer em then water sand em with 600 grit

If they are in rough shape d.a. them with 180, if not use 320. Then primer. Then wet sand with 600-800 grit paper. 400 grit scratches will swell back in the paint.
