re-paint...
well i recently(about 5-6 months) painted my camaro, it turned out alright, but not quite how i would like, dust and other things so im thinking of scuffing it all back down and respraying it, because i have enough base coat to lay one more coat on, and im going to go get more clear and lay hopefully 3-4 coats of it down, so when i painted it i scuffed my primer with 600 grit very well over the whole car, so should i just use 600 again? i planned to just scuff it all up really well and get it all flat, and just respray, would that be alright?
Re: re-paint...
can you not wetsand the inperfections out? if you cant all you need to do is knock the gloss off the current paint to repaint. 600 wet is the coarsest you want to go. but if you are not spraying a sealer coat then i dont know if the color coat will cover these scratches.

I would knock the tops off of the dirt nibs with 800 wet, then 1200 wet the whole car flat.

Wet sand hole car with 1200 than 1500 buff and you're done..
What kind of clear are you using? Cuz with some clears you are only suppose to spray 2 coats. U can wet sand in between coats. But 4 coats all at one time is to much clear.

Re: re-paint...
If he painted the car 6 months ago he would have better luck buffing concrete to get it to shine. I waited quite a while to buff a Nova at work, and even with a wool pad and extra cut compound, I like to never have got it to shine back up.

Re: re-paint...
well i sanded the whole car down with 600 today, and im gonna spray one coat of base, Dupont chromabase electric blue effect, and maybe 3-4 coats of clear, haven't bought it yet but ill be getting the chromaclear, or something like that
reason i went with 600 is thats what i used over my primer just before i shot my paint, and it covered nicely no scratches or anything, so i figured its a pretty safe bet
anyone ever use that clear? i guess its a pretty decent clear, its gonna be about 5 quarts sprayable, so how many coats should i get out of that? 3-4 pretty safely right?

Have not used that clear but like i said before a lot of new clears look worse the more coats u put on. If you want that deep look sprary 2 coats on than wet sand the hole car again with 1000 grit wet and spray 2 more coats on.

Re: re-paint...
800 is as coarse as you would want to go, but if you spray a medium wet coat of base, then the 800 shouldn't swell back. But if it was me, I would go with something more like 1000 grit.

Re: re-paint...
well i used 600 on the whole car right before i sprayed it the first time, but i did spray 2 coats of color that time,,, and this time i think ill only have enough to do one coat of color, so ill sand it all down with 800 then spray it, even tho that seems a little fine to me but oh well
