Rear Quarter Panel Rotted

Hey guys just wondering what would be the easiest way to do it your self repair the rear quarter panel? Its rotted along the wheel well. Me and my dad can do all the body work so its pointless having someone else to do it. Just wondering if you guys had any ideas? Thanks guys

how bads the rot? if its really bad you may want to buy a new 1/4 skin and section in where the old one is rotted.

Definitely get a new skin if it is very bad at all. Remember the rule that if you can see the rust on the outside it is at least 6 inches in all directions on the back side.

Try year one or the paddock. They should have what you need

what do you mean by the 1/4 piece? you could just order the new skin and cut the sections out that are bad on your car then cut these same sections out on the new 1/4 and weld em in.

Re: Rear Quarter Panel Rotted

Don't just cut the sections off of the skin and weld them in, unless it is a really small area. You will have it all warped and won't be happy at all if you have no experience doing body work. If you only have a small area to do, like the wheel lip, then they sell patch panels specifically for the areas that always rust. You will be much happier if you skin the whole quarter. It is not that much more work and will be less hassle in the long run .

Do you have pictures? You can also get quarter skins from classic industries ($85 each) If it's minor you can just cut and shape sheet metal then weld it on and shape it more with a body hammer. I would recommend replacing the whole thing though, I've seen guys get new quarter skins and get it painted just to have the rust come back 2 months later. If you have body experience you should know how to swap a quarter panel, it's pretty straight foreward
