HOOD LOUVER MOUNTING STUD FIX?
Does anyone here have a surefire fix for broken & dry-rotted hood louver mounting studs? I've broken them before, & this time there was absolutely no way around it. It seems to me there should be a prescribed repair rather than dropping over 2 bills on new ones.

Re: HOOD LOUVER MOUNTING STUD FIX?
I'll tell you what I did. I bought a stick of 1/4-20 all thread and cut that into 2" pieces. Buy some nuts also so you can retain the threads if your cut is bad (install 2 nuts and cut inbetween them so you can remove them and it rethreads itself ). I then removed the plastic studs, or whatever was left of them with what ever I had handy. Buy some good epoxy, set the all thread, let cure, and there you go.

That's a great idea. I'll be taking my louvers out for refinishing soon and was wondering what I would do if the stud snapped when I tried to take the nut off.
I did a similar thing on the rear seatbelt grommets around the hole in the side panel of my vert. I replaced them about evey year for a while since the mounting stud broke whenever someone sat crooked in the rear seats or pulled wrong getting the belt out.
I drilled out what was left of the broken stud and replaced it with a bronze machine screw. The interior is medium beechwood, so they match preetty good.
