Removing emblem adhesive?

I am getting ready to put a new set of emblems on my car. Now I just took the Z28 emblem off my bumper, and now I am stuck w/ this thick black adhesive that is hard coming off. Anybody know what can be used to get this stuff off? Any help would be great...Thanks

Re: Removing emblem adhesive?

usually Goo Gone with some rubbing gets off most any adhesive. Might have to coat it a few times if the adhesive is thick. Then you wash it off after the area is cleaned so it doesn't eat into the paint.

Re: Removing emblem adhesive?

I used a different brand, maybe, but the same type, to remove the "bumper strip" along the side, doors, fenders, rear quarters, on my black Tahoe. ZERO damage to the black paint. Chuck it in your drill, ans spin away!

It ***** up the adhesive to fall off, then any polish/wax type stuff will remove the adhesive glazing remaining, making it like it was never there.

WD-40

Works every time.
Spray it on, rub it in, let it sit for awhile.
Couple apps and should come off.

Re: Removing emblem adhesive?

Use good old WD-40. It takes off the glue without a problem. You could use it to get tar and other crap off your paint.
