I removed my door a while back. When I put it back on, it didn't line up. The front of the door seems ok, but the back of it is to far in at the top and too far out at the bottom. It seems to be twisted in the back.

Is there any way to adjust these doors? I thought everything was pretty much set and couldn't move. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

this might be kind of far out there, but did your door get twisted when you had it off or somethin'. because, yea, these doors are not very adjustable. other than that, i don't know what you could do. i guess you could remount the hinges to make the door line up right, (move the top one out, and the bottom one in). but i don't really know.

 

oh boy, I better check my doors. They've been off for a good month now waiting for paint... but im to attached to the engine. I've heard of a device that you hook up (third gens) and they align the door, i'll look around for it

 

I hope the door wouldn't have got twisted from sitting on the floor. This is a door alignment tool I looked at: http://www.top-downsolutions.com/pro...aad8a3182adf5b. After reading about it, I don't think it will help out with my door situation because it seems to be for up/down alignment only.

There must be something I am missing. I replaced the driver door and that one fits perfect. Then the passenger side fails to fit even though it is from the car originally. Go figure

 

Did you repair the hinges or something? Is the fender still mounted on the car?

 

No, I didn't do anything with the hinges, just took the door off and put it back on a few weeks later.

The fender is actually not the fender that was on the car. I still have the old fender, but it is bent up from an impact to the bottom of it.

 

If you think about it, the rear of the door HAS TO be lined up to the rear fender. then the sheet metal on the front of the car would be lined up to that. The only way a door can twist if the door skin is not welded, or it has no skin on it.

I'm guessing the front fender is out of alignment. Line up the door with the rear fender. Then line up the front fender to the door.
