What would cause a door not to line up?
For some reason the tops of the doors in my firebird don't sit flush. What would cause this?

Re: What would cause a door not to line up?
I am having the same problem with mine, except the bottom is out and the top is in to far. I do not think it has anything to do with door sag. Door sag is up and down, this is in and out.
Messing with the bolts that hold it on didn't do anything for me. There is no adjustment in the bolts because they have to be all the way in to be tight and hold the door on properly.
I haven't found the solution as of yet, and my thread didn't turn out any ideas that worked. Maybe this one will have better luck.

Just hit it with a hammer! Kidding. Sorry, I shouldn't have even replied, but I couldn't resist.
Oh, and if the hammer doesn't work ... get a bigger hammer!

That's definatly a hinge alignment problem, I don't have much experience with the Firebirds/Camaro's, but I know most cars have 2 sets of bolts on either side of the hinge, one side adjusts height, and distance, the other adjusts how far in, and how far out from the car the door sits.. But take it to a shop, it's a stressful job.

Than if you don't mind, could you ask them what they did to fix it once they finish and then let us know? I don't have the luxury of taking mine to a body shop so I am kinda stuck with the problem. I would greatly appreciate it if you could post their solution.

The problem is with how heavy those big doors are. The hinges just start to get worn and droop. Inspecting the hinges, grabbing a beer, a mallet, and a lot of patience can help. I've seen a lot of places selling hinge repair kits that seem to do pretty well. Either way it's a pain.

EXACT same thing haooebned to my car. forget maaco as they wanted to bend the door to fit and whaty not
tuned out to be worn door pins/bushings and what not. maaco wanted over $1,000 just for bending the door...before paint...cost me $80 at a really reputable shop and it was fixed in a day

it looks like besides your hinges being misaligned, your knocker is also misaligned.
