The extent of the damage is still unknown, but i was wondering, if it was minimal, could i replace the rear end with a 84 z28 rear end? thanks

yes, one from a fourth gen will also fit and would be a better choice IMO

okay, to clear things out, it might possibly be the rear end, and ive heard i can replace that (axle, etc.), but its the body i'm worried about, assuming the frame isn't completely F'd up would i be able to replace the whole back window/trunk area and rear side panels and lights and bumper, how hard would it be if i could?

I am pretty sure it can be done, but it will be EXTREMELY hard to do. You would have to cut the rear of your car and a donor car off and then weld the rear from the donor onto the front part of your car.
The best way to do it would probably be to leave as much bracing as you can (that is not damaged) and just drill out the spot welds holding it all together. Then come in with the new section and weld it into the supports using plug welds where the spot welds were.
I would really try to avoid cutting the car apart because you will run into a lot of work and a lot of things that are not easy to do. Plus you have to make sure you get the new piece lined up perfectly.

my uncle use to have an 86 camaro...actually it was an 86 and an 88 i believe...anyways the back end on the 86 was toast so my gramps cut the back end off the 88 and welded it to the 86 and from what i know no problems car was great...im talking from rear hatch back...so it can be done...but i dont think it would be very easy...trying to get the two half's lined up properly then all that welding...
Re: 91 Camaro z28 rear end destroyed
it really depends on what you are working with. my car was hit by a semi and it was a lot of work to fix. i had to replace the passenger quarter, the back peice behind the tail lights, and the force of the hit pushed the drivers quarter out. now even though it was the other side of the car that was hit the drivers poped out about a half to three quarters of an inch. its not really hard to do it but i hope you have lots of spare time because body work in general is time consuming. now if you add body panel replacement on top of that you are in for a long project. good luck

It is always possible if you have $$$. All I have to say is good luck with the body work. I'm trying to learn how to do that now.
