Re: new project 85 TA

how old is your son? i think that is a perfect project for a kid. growing up my dad always had a corvette in the garage. i was not allowed to take it out often so i was never all that interested in it. i think if i had a mid-late 80s thirdgen that i could have tinkered around with by myself my dad would have had no problem with me driving it, and it still would have been enjoyable. great idea, i hope you both enjoy the hell out of it.

Re: new project 85 TA

First job, gut the inside, until the carpet is out form front to back you won't know how much rust you have. Lots of rust you cannot see from under or outside the car that can be nasty.

I found all kinds of nice rust in mine that could not be seen.
Was my first big project.

Re: new project 85 TA

after living in new Hampshire i know there are a ton of those cars all around new hampshire and mass, so finding parts is easy compared to in PA. i just saw a full set of 4th gen gray leather seats for $100 on nh craigslist like last week. so keep searching craigslist. what part of mass are you from?

Re: new project 85 TA

nice i recently bought my 85 TA with the carb 305 but mines an auto but was woundering what all you got planned looks like a real solid car hows the interior any good places you found for things like door sills and the plastic trim please let me knowthe car was a project for me and my dad as well so thats awesom I love late nights in the shop im waiting for my fibreglass center console and dash to dry right now Im really in need of a hood and plan on hood pins so if it dosent have the latch its fine the previous owner had the support from the radiator bracket to where the hood latch goes dis connected and the hood flew up on her ruining the spine of the hood so it sits funny and ive heard its hard to get the dents out of the spine it better to get a new hood do you know about that because the cheapest hood i have found was still about $300 for a stock hood
