I have been in the process of starting the restore of my 86 camaro, now there is only one part that i am having issues finding and that is the reinforcement bar. My local napa can not get it for me and year one does not seem to have them either.

Where did you get yours?

 

What reinforcement bar are you talking about. Where is it located?

 

behind the bumper and the impact absorber, also this is the rear of the car.

 

Should not be hard to find any any junk yard. Not much that can go wrong with it, even I was smacked from behind at 30mph and that bar is fine.

 

the issue that i had was that the guy that had the camaro before me had it sitting in a "bog" of mud so everything and i mean everything is rusted through. I have to replace the floor, control arms, wheel wells, and about 1 year or so from the frame.

 

not really my business, but if there is that much rust, why bother fixing it? does the car have a sentimental value or a rare model? Clear rust free cars are not that expensive, probably much less than what you would be paying to replace everything.

 

that is why i want it, this is my project car. and where i live a car like this in good shape is hard to find for a good price.

 

If your lucky, you cam find a 82-84 aluminum one. No more rust, despite the lighter weight is nice to have.

Did all camaros have this aluminum piece instead of steel for 82-84? Or was it just for a certain model?
