so, im painting.

I'm not actually painting the car yet, well, i actually just need to paint the hood and wing to match. I have sanded the hood and spoiler down, and im ready to paint, but i have never done any of this before, and i dont know what im doing. What kind of primer should i use? I'm going with a dark grey, or black color. How many coats do i need? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

sealer primer

you dont need a bunch of base but put the clear on heavy so you can sand and buff

Look for an autobody supply store in your area. They'll have everything you need and lots of good advice.

most auto part stores have a piant section with a specific paint guy that can mix any color you need. they dont just try to sell you the most expensive products especially if you tell them it is your first time. be honest with them, give them a budget of both money and time and they will help you out from start to end. but you should always get more than one quote, not because some places have higher mark-ups but because everyplace sells different brands. one place may have cheap paint that requires a expensive primer and the next place could have good paint with a cheap primer. get a quote on the whole project!!

Oowee! I suggest you to have someone at your back while doing these if your really not sure of what you are doing. Anyways, I prefer to have a couple of (Primer/base/top) coatings. I used white for my last primer.
