Re: Hatch Pull down problems
I think i fixed mine last night, i slid the whole unit up by losening those 3 bolts and then when i close it i have to hit it down to latch thenn for some reason it just lowers it self and stays flush, when i open it i have to pull up while i turn and then when the hatch is comeing up the thing rises,. Dont really no what i did besides rasie it.

Re: Hatch Pull down problems
Did you forget to e-mail or PM me as someone suggested? No need to sent it back. Here's what happened. You opened the hatch before it had completed the "down" cycle. You need to have it finish the down cycle or it won't come back up. Here's how you re-set it. Look at the latch with a flashlight. There is a black switch attached in front of the latch by a single hex-head screw. There are three wired coming out of it (orange, black and white). On the opposite side of the switch from the screw is a small black paddle. That is the actual switch part of the switch. Press on that paddle and the motor should turn on and power the latch down. You'll hear a CLICK which is the reversing switch being tripped to stop the down cycle. Release the switch and the motor will turn on again in reverse direction and power the latch portion all the way up. Again it will end with a CLICk of the reversing switch shutting down the up cycle. That's it your unit is now re-set and ready to pull down once you've closed the hatch. If you have any other questions, just ask. Or do a search on my username for the countless posts that I've put on this site where I describe the re-setting procedure.

Re: Hatch Pull down problems
Did you try resetting it as I described? if that doesn't solve it remove the hatch trim panel and unplug the blue wire from the red/white stripe wire. Use a munti-meter or test light and test that you have power at the red/white stripe wire. If no power, then check the fuse. On your firebird the fuse is NOT in the fuse block. It is a separate single blade-style fuse holder that should be attached to the outside edge of the fuse block. That fuse holder can be detached from the fuse holder, so if it isn't there you'll have to hunt it down under your dash near the fuse panel.

Re: Hatch Pull down problems
hey lonsal! i love your information brother. you know what your talking about and this is how i can understand. Yes i have the external fuse, fuse is good. volt meter is at shop. I will check this after christmas i guess. keep in touch. if i hadnt messed with any wiring and it was working proper for a week, how would i just loose power? surely no loose connection. i think this reverse switch or relay has burn out. haha
