Sealing a window..
Sealing a window..
My backwindow is letting water through the liftgate.
Can anyone recommend a substance I can use to seal the tiny little space that the water is getting through?
It's where the glass meets the metal on the bottom of the glass piece, if you were looking at it standing behind the car.

IIRC that piece is bolt on and probably just needs a new seal.

Yes, that's what I mean. Where the glass meets the part of the liftgate, I guess you would call it a deck lid. I don't think it is bolt on, however. I took the trim off the latch and it didn't seem like it was but then again, I was not looking for it.
Anyone confirm this?

Either the deck lid is sandwiching the glass, or it's bolted to it somehow (or both.)
Quick fix you could dry the area real good and run some clear silicone, but I'd try to fix it properly if it was me.
Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Re: Sealing a window..
I had this problem and i just put a little line of weatherstirpping adhesive inbetween teh glass and deck lid on the exterior,
i made sure i pushed it in there with a scraper. and it hasnt leaked since.
We've had major rainfall (over 130mm over the past 2 days) and my trunk is the only dry part of the car

this is the last 3rd gen i restored.
you just unbolt the deck lidl from the glass, remove the old silicone, clean everything, put new silicone down and align your hood bolt it tight. DONE.

Good pics. I got all but one of those nut/washer things out because it was rusted to the deck lid.
Any ideas on how to get it out? I tried hammering the s*** out of it, several wrenches, and whatnot. No luck.
