You have to remove the rubber triangle seal behind the mirror & the weather stripping by the tri-seal.Lower the regulator & loosen the two felt guides at the top of the door. You should not need to remove the guide riveted to the glass.Removing is easiest by lifting the glass out where the tri- seal used to be.The B-pillar may be in the way though, but it should come out this way.I have a pass window i took out this way, but the door was off the car.

84 1LE sounds good

I used to go through all that, I now just remove the stuff attached to the glass and reattach it later.

The rivets take no time to drill out with a cordless drill
The time and stress you save is easier

Well, the only one I removed I took a sawzall to the door because it was rusted out, and I was getting tired of being snowed on.

84 1LE has it right on how to take it out though without killing the door.

i know this isn't exactly the right way to do it, but i cut a little slice out of the door where the triangle peice is, you still have to pull all of the tracking out of the way but by cutting out a little piece of the door it allows you to slide the glass out with the roller still attached to the glass. i didn't feel like taking the rivet out of the equation. i most did it though because i topped the car and checking all of the glass alighnment ment that the window needed to come in and out a few times and would have been to much of a hassel any other way. also the peice cut out is covered by the interior door cover so will never be seen any ways.

Re: removing pass. window glass####

thanks for the help!! I found the rivets. When you put the glass back in did you put rivets back in or could you just put small bolts and nuts, to make it easier the next time??

Re: removing pass. window glass####

I used pan head screws and nuts with a dab of locktite. Keep the screws as short as possible.

We use pop-rivets in production because they are cheap and fast to install, not because they are the best fastener.
