Uh ohh!!!

Okay... I'm not sure if this is a good indicator of mileage, but my car's odometer is broken at 121,610 miles. When I bought it the dealership supposedly had no idea that it was... here's what scares me... I keep seeing these 170K, 200K RS Camaro's with the original hubcaps, and the striping and "Chevrolet" writing is still very clear. On my hubcaps it is worn off. I bought the car from Florida, maybe the humidity helped take the lettering off. Mechanics have told me that they think it has around 130K, but can this be right?

Re: Uh ohh!!!

Hard to say really.....It all depends on if the car was washed regularly, cared for, garage stored vs out in the sun 24/7.

I know of a 200k mile TTA that was just sold & pretty much looked brand new. But it had been garaged & well taken care of, most of its life.

My 180k GTA paint looks much worse than his 200k TTA.

Why not? Their guess is as good as any. If you enjoy your car, maybe the question is unimportant. At any rate, I doubt you'll ever be able to verify mileage one way or another.

Brake pad came off soon after I got it, it was pretty worn. But I do know that the last owner(s) of the car really beat the sh*t out of it, I wouldn't be suprised if most of that wear and tear came from them jacking it around town.

Yeah, good point, the thing is though, that more than likely, this car will become a daily driver, and I'd hate for it to, instead of having 121,000 miles, to have 221,000 or 321. LO3's are good reliable motors, but how long can it possibly last?

Re: Uh ohh!!!

another wear indicator could also be the windshield, if there is a lot of small pits and other marks you can compare it to other cars in your area. you can also tell if the person that owned it before you was a more aggresive driver or not if there is a lot of deep pits (caused by tail-gateing). I would say that it is more likely that odometer broke at 121k and not 221k mi, not many of these cars see over 200k mi. and like james said above, the mileage is not really all that important as long as you still enjoy the car for what it is.
