Cracked Ground Effect... Repair

I recently cracked my front ground effect/front chin spoiler on my iroc... its on the passenger side front area. its about 3-4 inches... its 'sits' perfectly in line with the crack, meaning its not uneven, and realigns itselt where it belongs (hope that makes sense..) however, it you apply pressure, it can be separated to reveal the crack. a small amount of paint is missing from the crack.

Id like to get this repaired, but dont know much about body work. can this be fixed? like with fiberglass or something and then repainted? a whole new piece seems over the top for what it is..

looking for some feedback on this, thank you.

Re: Cracked Ground Effect... Repair

A similar thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I just went to the local autozone and bought one of those cans of fiberglass resin and it came with a few sheets of the fiberglass. It wasn't that hard to apply, just make sure you use enough hardener in the resin. When it's all dry sand it as smooth as needed and use bondo (also available at a local auto parts store) to make sure it smooths out well. When you sand that just paint it!

Re: Cracked Ground Effect... Repair

Look for SEM. It's specifically made to repair the urethane body parts. Do NOT use fiberglass. The urethane parts are made to flex, fiberglass will crack and fall off as soon as you scrape the chin spoiler on the next driveway
I have a spare chin spoiler with LESS damage than my original(NOT FOR SALE, don't even ask!!!!). I've resisted replacing the original until it's damaged beyond repair. They're tough to find, and pricey if you do find one.
