Rust!

I have an 89 iroc that has rust all over the body. Is that an easy problem to get rid of or should I just strip it for parts?

Re: Rust!

It depends on the rust : if it's surface rust it's nothing, just sand to bare metal and prime. If it's rot, then it depends on how much there is and where it is. If it's a rusted out door, replace it. If it's a hole in the quarter panel, weld new material in place of the rot. If it's the frame, she's dead...

Every car is worth saving. Only thing on these cars that is intimidating is rear quarters and the windshield area. Anything else is easily fixed if you have any competent welding skills and actually at least half the car can be replaced with bolt on methods. Unless of course you just got really crazy and started cutting up so much of the body that your whole chassis twists or start fussing with your subframes.

Post pictures, or at least give us a list or we can't help you.

Re: Rust!

That's a lot of rust, even though it looks like surface rust, I would hang on and look for a nicer car to start with. 3rd Gens can be found cheap, and most even have paint.
