Manual to power window conversion

Hello everyone, quick question here. Are the window regulators used for

manual windows the same as the ones used for power windows?

No. While the regulators have some similar parts, converting one would be a real challenge.

That is an excellent tech article.

The only thing I would add, is to consider substituting 1/4-20x1/2" bolts,
with nylock nuts, for the rivets.
(Rivets are not inherently stronger, but obviously faster on a factory
assembly line.)

Yes, you can just swap the doors and then install the harness in your car if you want to.

Re: Manual to power window conversion

You could also swap the regulators out and keep the doors you have.
Remember that the window switches are in the console. It's not just a couple wires in the doors you'd be transfering over.

Re: Manual to power window conversion

If the wires are already under the console and unused.... are the wires in the door as well to hook up to the power regulator?
