Finally Got The Holy Grail Of GTA Taillights
Been looking for a mint set for almost 2 years now and finally got the 91-92 GTA Taillights and in mint condition. Got the harness also. Now just to tie in the harness and install them as soon as the car gets back from the body shop next weekend. Can't wait. Just curious if the different harness just plugs in or if it is a cut an splice job. Anyone who has installed them in the 87-90 GTA cars, please chime in.
Thanks,
Josh Jacob

These things are hard to find. Thats why I have 3 extra sets now. I like that the PONTIAC is still on them.

Re: Finally Got The Holy Grail Of GTA Taillights
I would think that they would just plug in. If I remember correctly my '79 Trans Am and my '88 GTA had the same kind of socket on the tail lights. I know my GTA and my '87 IROC do.

Curious. What'd you pay. The market price on them has kind of declined within the last few years.

I picked mine up for $125 locally. Great shape and on the car now, but thinking of putting the original grids back on just to preserve them I guess. Wanted them for years.

Also they plug right in but you'll have to do some splicing if you want the turns to just be the amber section. I just switched mine around and have the amber and the one right next to it flash when I hit the turn signal. Only thing is at night with the park/headlights on they are all lit up. Doesn't bother me though, I'd rather not cut my harness back there up.

I just threw a set of these out. Parted out a car and couldn't give them away.

Hydrolic144-I am installing them this weekend. Just curious before I start hacking into my stock harness if the 1992 harness will just go in without having to cut and splice too much. I also have the harness to those taillights.

Re: Finally Got The Holy Grail Of GTA Taillights
All you need is the 2 outer sockets for the 91-92s.
(that's all I used going from base firebird lights) made a cool splice for 4 wires.
Is that the original lettering or decal replacement??

Re: Finally Got The Holy Grail Of GTA Taillights
You actually don't need any sockets for the Trans Ams. No need for splicing any wires. Your harness is the same and they go right in. And looks like you have a 89 akanitro?

I know the 91-2 tails need that socket with the wires coming out of the side on the outside edge of the tail lights.
The earlier sockets with the wires coming straight out of the back just don't fit in the outer edges between the car and the tail light housing.
