Re: clear glass hood?

lexan might work. correct me if im wrong but isnt the stuff bullit proof?? the only thing i would worry about is the heat. if it can handle the heat id say go for it. and post some pics when ur all finished with it. oh and i almost forgot theres a thread where a guy did this. its in a thread thats all about hoods https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...ds-post-3.html theres the link its on page 2 and 3 i think.

Re: clear glass hood?

so you wanna be like the new ZR-1, huh?

i'd use lexan...you can get it from Lowe's of Home Depot. just measure carefully and make a nice, clean cut. idk what would be the best way to attach it, but if its done correctly, it should come out nicely.

Re: clear glass hood?

im not tryin to be a **** about it, im jus tryin to make sure he understands that you need some serious skill and machines to pull this off....not that im god or anything, but i do body work and fiberglass for a living, and i had the windows CNC machined for the hood and it took me about two months to finish it and i have a whole shop of tools at my disposal and the knowledge to do it....if anyone want to make one, go ahead...you will hate yourself for that decision....i wouldnt do it again that is for sure....

but thanx for the kudos it sure draws a lot of looks and questions about the car.

Re: clear glass hood?

Thats the hard thing, making something yours is truly hard. I've had alot of ideas myself and bam I do a look on here and they all got used already. Otherthen paint and some mods, 90-97% of things will be duplicated. If a enough people like it and attempt to do it, it means that you've done one heck of a job that people want to use. Me I'm a fan of Charged350's hood and yet the only thing I can think of is instead of clear "glass" is either to go tinted or stick a mesh in to maybe help with engine heat. If I were to ever copy a design, I'd would make sure that anyone who asked would know who did it first-or atleast who I copied from and it was I that was the duplicate maker.
