I came across some IROC hood louvers but some of the posts that connect it to the hood are broken or missing. Is there a way to repair them, or still use it without them?

I was thinking of something like that but wasn't sure how well it would hold up. That's probably what I'll do then.

I did do a quick search but didn't find anything. I'll look around again to see what other ideas are out there.

When I did the repair they held great, just make sure to use the right kind of epoxy and use it generously.

 

couldn't you just use 3M double sided body tape to put them on? Much easier than ****in around with epoxy...

 

That's a good idea too, but wouldn't it be difficult to remove them later to repaint or something?

I don't remember but I bought it at True Value, iirc it was for adhering metal to plastic.

It's an easy fix and imho you will be better of with this method than using double stick tape. I'd hate to see you blasting down the highway and see a louver fly off because the tape failed

 

There is no flat surface to the undersides, so I'd be weary of the tape as well.

Someone told me a superglue trick that I've yet to try. Adding baking soda to the superglue is supposed to make an instant bond - just glue pieces in place and sprinkle the baking soda on the wet glue. Supposed to work really well for places where your gluing 1 piece to another at 90 degree angles - glue both pieces, then run a bead along the inside corner and sprinkle the baking soda for an instant 'weld'.

 

Thanks, I've never heard of that before. I might try that in the future, but I'll probably stick with the epoxy for this since it's been used before.

 

I used the body shops U/V resistant windshield urethane. It WILL NOT come off lol.
