Back Hatch Won't Stay Shut

I was driving my 92' maro down the road the other day and the hatch just flew open. (The electrical latching thing stopped working a long time ago so ive just been slamming my hatch shut for a long time.) Everytime I shut it, it just flies back open. It is EXTREMELY frustrating. Anyone know how to fix this?

Re: Back Hatch Won't Stay Shut

you're lucky, most people's hatches don't go up at all.... more than likely its the latch mechanism not working. Its not electrical, its just like the hood latch (although it does have a solenoid if you have the hatch-release button). Check your alignment of the hatch-hook and the latch, make sure it isn't broken and all the way in the "down" position...
