I was looking at a Camaro forsale that had different colored gfx. It must have been pre 86 (no third brake light), It was red with gray gfx. I was under the impression that only z28's had different gfx. I wanna be informed before I contact owner. Any info would be very much appreciated.

 

I think the first base model to get ground effects was the 1988 SC camaros that had the "Camaro" on the door ground effects. Those had different color ground effects, but they would also have a third brake light. Maybe it was a pre '86 SC that somebody put ground effects on themselves.

 

That's probably the case. the gfx say "Camaro" on the sides, and on the back. Could be an add on, or maybe the back window could have been replaced with an older one. Thanks for the info. I'll take a better look at it with the owner there so I can pick..

 

Also what kind of spoiler did it have? Those '88 Sport Coupes had a different type of spoiler than any other Camaro. It almost looks like a '91-'92 Z28 spoiler except it isn't as tall. If it has that spoiler then most likely it's a 1988 with a different back window. If it doesn't then it's probably an older SC with ground effects added to it.

 

Yup, something sounds amiss, however, these cars have been around so long, lots are modified in some regard. Look for accident damage!!!! I have been through nearly a dozen thirdgens between myself and my brother, and whatever isn't rotten has been hit.

 

The spoiler looks the same as my iroc, and rs. I believe it an older base camaro, w/gfx's added on.
