Grille Interchangability

Hi Guys, im from Australia so there arent too many Camaro Parts over here, but I have a 1982 Camaro Sports Coupe and it only has the 2 little grille sections on the bumper cover, i was just wondering if the grilles from the later camaros eg. 88-92 not the Z28 ones with the camaro written in it but the grille without the fog light option will fit the standard 1982 Camaro Sports coupe? thanks.

Re: Grille Interchangability

Your talking about the RS grilles right? It's like the "slats" for lack of a better word. I'm sure it will fit. I don't think it will just replace what's there, but I think you can make it work.

YOu want what's int eh picture below, but just for a 1982 coupe? That picture is a 1987 i believe.

Re: Grille Interchangability

Yeah thats the one, i want those slats but will they fit onto a 1982 Sports Coupe? Because the little grilles on the sports coupe are around $80 Australian each side! Whereas I can get the slat type for $50 Australian and i dont think the bowtie grille will fit so i think the slat one is the next best option if it fits hey?

Re: Grille Interchangability

Unfortunately, the 82-84 non-gfx grilles are not interchangeable with any of the other styles. all the Camaros that came with ground effects can be swapped (RS to Z28 and visa-versa), but not to the sport coupe style bumpers.

Re: Grille Interchangability

I could cut it but im just wondering if it will be big enough to cover the whole area and will it actually sit in the opening, not too worried about the mounting points.

Re: Grille Interchangability

I dont have a camaro, but I'm sure somebody here could mesure the grill. You could just measure the opening of the area your talking about (the two grills including the center section) and find out if it will fit. I think it will
