rattle in dash

rattle in dash
what would make my dash rattle and squeek when hitting bumps?does anyone else have this problem? ive tryed tightning bolts and screws but still does it

Pretty much all third gens do this. I blame the plastic pieces rubbing againt other plastic pieces. Over time The plastic warps and causes rubbing. I think that installing little pieces of rubber or similar between mounting locations, would help a bit, but I havent tried it.

One of the bad things about cars from the 80's is the build quallity. Every 3rd gen I have owned/ridden in has had dash squeaks/rattles. Some cars a very noisy and others are somewhat quiet. Bascily the entire dash is made of plastic, it's going to flex with the car. Subframe connectors help a buch with this.

Ive owned 2 IROCs--1 without subframe connectors and 1 with and I can tell you the one with the SFC is a totally different car!! NO rattles whatsoever--I highly recommend getting them if you are going to keep your car.
