Question about SS decals on my third gen

I bought this 1988 Camaro Sport Coupe a couple months ago, and the guy I got from swore the SS decals are factory...I didn't believe him and I still can't find any proof that they are factory decals. I am wondering if anybody here has seen these decals on a third gen before?

Re: Question about SS decals on my third gen

Unless I'm wrong the ss package skipped the 3rd gen.

Re: Question about SS decals on my third gen

That's correct. The SS package did skip the 3rd gens. I'm really trying to figure out if anyone has seen the same decals on a 3rd gen before.

The decals on the doors look homemade.

Re: Question about SS decals on my third gen

Yeah, in third picture (from the rear) the little black SS stickers on the left side kinda give it away.... *hehe*

Funny to see them on the sail panels, too.

You do have the '88 low rise rear spoiler though.

I was going to put one on mine, they are difficult to remove without breaking sometimes so be careful if you ever do.

A good body man with a "rubber eraser" can remove it for maybe 10 bucks?

I bought an eraser, pulled the rubber door molding off my black 97 Tahoe (about 6 yrs old at the time) & the eraser got all the moulding adhesive off, leaving the factory black paint PERFECT, like nothing had ever been there.

Re: Question about SS decals on my third gen

I don't think its beyond a dealer to put that type of junk on cars. They put stickers on the side of a Ford ranger, and it then becomes a "Splash"

Lol, I should have been more clear, I was talking about the '88 spoiler. The posts become weak and if he ever has to remove it to paint or anything they sometimes crumble apart.

Re: Question about SS decals on my third gen

Umm.... there were lots of ZF's made. Well, not 'lots', but it isn't some **** that a random dealer made up. It was a dealer installed option available for base Camaros. And it did include glued on wood trim, stripes, and ZF badges.

yeah, nothing about it was go-fast, but i guess new it may have looked a bit more slick. by the time I got to the car, it was a bit rough around the edges.

Re: Question about SS decals on my third gen

Thanks everyone for your help. I know I'll be posting more about this car when I actually start working on it. When I do the planned engine swap I intend to post lots of pictures and ask lots of questions.
