Re: Chrome vs Black Door Handles - Why?

As far as I know, from 82 to 84, the chrome door handles were only on base birds while S/Es and T/As had the black handles.

Re: Chrome vs Black Door Handles - Why?

OK thanks - that works.

I have an 84 V6 with F41, instrument package, pwr windows, cruise and ttops. It has rally wheels too. It is not an 'SE' AFAIK. I have chrome handles which always struck me as odd as there is not another speck of chrome on the car and they really don't go with anything. I might paint mine or replace, we'll see.

thanks again

If you're gonna replace, 4th gen handles are a perfect fit. A lot of people like them better

Interesting - thanks for the tip! I'll check some pix and see what they look like.

Re: Chrome vs Black Door Handles - Why?

OK I see a pic of a 4th gen Camaro - they appear to be flush and body colored. These fit a 3rd gen FBody and fit flush? I might go for that - any pix of some of these installed?

thanks

Re: Chrome vs Black Door Handles - Why?

I have black handles on my GTA, i thought the GTA was supposed to be the highest optioned, if this was the case then would chrome handles come with it? or would they be an add on to the order?

The main difference is that the 4th gen ones are "smooth", they don't have that indent in the middle of the handle that ours do.

Re: Chrome vs Black Door Handles - Why?

Black 4th gen handles are cheap - only $8 new. I'll have to prime/paint the door locks though as the bezels appear to be stainless.
