While at a junkyard looking for some parts for my Trans-Am, I came across this Iroc. According to the owner of the junkyard, he had just ripped the 350 TPI out 2 hours earlier! In the process he ripped off the hood in the most unnecessary way I have ever seen. Look at this poor poor camaro, the interior was pristene, and so was the body, except for minor minor rust. Not a dent on the car.

probably a cash for clunkers deal. Suck, could have been a nice car to someone.

Most likely, If the engine was still in it I would have bought the whole car then and there. Oh, and the engine before it was ripped out, only had 90,000 Miles on it. I took some pieces from the headliner, and the dashpad was fantastic, but their wasn't much else that I could salvage that my car needed. He said they would crush it in two weeks. If it was cash for clunkers, the engine would have already been toasted by the "fatal solution" they have to run in it at the dealer when they traded it in. Probably some kind of valve grinding compound or something...either way the motor was supposed to have been trashed if it was a cash for clunkers. It was probably just another case of someone with too much money and not enough sense dumping off "that junk in the yard" because someone wanted it out of their sight...as unsightly as our cars are
.
Anyway, rant over, it sucks to see that kind of stuff...but whatever, eventually there are going to be less and less...just like the 2nd gens. What everyone who says these cars are a dime a dozen fail to realize is more people drive and own cars...more than one too...than back then and the production numbers were not THAT enormous on third gen cars to justify constantly trashing them. You are already starting to see more and more "rust repair" projects that were almost always scrapped for a "better, rust free" replacement. Rust free and nice are getting harder and harder to come by for any kind of cheap, so "rust repair" it is...just like the 2nd gens. We're going on over 20 years old for many of these cars...

No, cash for clunkers, they paint "clunker" on the car and it is (MUST) be sent to a crusher. That's sad - original, complete car and it's picked over like roadkill. Originally Posted by Coolwheels84

Buy the car, and sell the parts out to keep these original body parts from being destroyed. Our body parts will be almost impossible to replace as it is. the junkyard owner is a complete idiot! He can't recognize DESIRABLE cars from cars that no one wants and can be crushed. IDIOT!Originally Posted by ThirdGenFire93

I'll bet if he had a vintage 50's or 60's Vette he'd crush that too.

Which junkyard is it, and what color is the interior?
Also, does that yard have any other good 3rd gens?

They aren't allowed to sell cars out of the junkyard here in cali. You would have to make a deal and buy ALL the parts, strip it, then have them crush the shell. I have already tried that at the Yard in Chico.

psh thats lame lol, i wonder if you could ship it to another junk yard then sell it? lol some crazy junkyard ring XD

Junk yard around me are much the same, they refuse to sell cars out of the yard and they usually crush them in 2 weeks or so. It sucks also Cash for Clunker's was retarded so many nice cars thown away for less than there worth, EX. 99 transam LS1, can't use the motor cause of the liquid glass stuf they use in it. Bull **** that car is worth at least 8500. Not always the yard fault for stupid rules but they usually have some dumb ones everywhere.
