What you get when you buy a $200 camaro..

I was bored today, so I decided to pull the interior out of my camaro, and see about fixing a couple of rust holes in the floor, what I found wasn't very pretty...

by the way, I cut out that giant square, it wasn't missing,Its Real Ugly by the front passengers feet, im getting it towed to a welding shop my buddy owns, and he's going to weld in some patches (i could, but I don't own a welder) also, theres not much of a exaust on it right now (just a Y Pipe), and the cops are prickish about me driving it

so anyways for a little history on the car, I bought it like 2 years ago (I was at the junk yard, and a guy drove it in, I talked to him about it, it ran like crap, and he couldn't figure out why (mouse nest in airbox, and melted plug wires), so i talked to the guy, it cost me a case of beer and $200, and I haven't done much with it, because, i was working 2 jobs, i would drive it very once in a while, but not much, anyways I have a new job and more free time now

It started out as a 87 (base model) but the gut I bought it from swapped out the 2.8 for a TPI 305 out of a GTA (hence the GTA Rims) and did a **** poor job of doing it, (no sensors hooked up, hacked the harness) Ive fixed most of the wiring problems, its still got a few though (my gas gauge goes from "Empty" To "Full" When I Hit The Gas, regardless of how much gas is in it, cant figure that one Out, it kind of acts like a tach)

you know what the sick thing is though, someone alrady restored it once, and this jackass bought it, and beat it, and didnt take care of it, as far as the engine, its some problems, lowish oil pressure, worn valve seals,it runs alright but, you know its old and worn, when I get my tax money, I Plan on buying a wheeler 383 short block I hope to have it make around 400hp (one of the reasons im getting the floors fixed is so that I can get sub-frame connectors welded in, and have them be sturdy), (im going to use a simular setup to what i used in my old Silverado, it made like 390hp Im also going to install a T-5, Or T-56 (haven't decide which yet)

I miss that truck...

Well you could have done a lot worse for 200 where i live you would be lucky to find a thirdgen for 200 much less one than ran even if it ran like crap. I applaud you for keeping the car and saving it from the crusher. Good luck with the rust

Re: What you get when you buy a $200 camaro..

around 400hp 383, t-5, or t-56 tranny, then thoroughly kicking rice burners/mustangs asses with it, after I fix it up of course, and it was $200 and a case of beer (that was tricky to get beer I wasn't 21 yet, and it was a spur of the moment thing, I went and "borrowed" some from the restaurant I worked at)

anyways the pic is what I did today with it (new doors, the old ones were rusted bondo'd crap, I poked a hole in ione the other day with a screw driver) and yes I know they are from A rs, and yes I know there is holes in them from the body kit, im debating swapping the bodykit over from my rs

what do you guys think should I swap the ground effects?

Re: What you get when you buy a $200 camaro..

no its not horible looking , the worst external rust is a 1" wide 2" long section by the 1/4's, im getting new ones welded at some point, probally next year, as its going to snow any day out by me, and working on cars in the snow isnt fun, and my camaro scares me in the snow, belive me, they go in circles not straight,
I was thinking about it though, and i think i mat just leave it looking like a the base model, and leave the 2.8L sticker o the bumper, I kinda want a sleeper, speaking of sleepers my buddy stopped out with his caprice station wagon (its from the late 70's,m cant remeber what year) last night, its got drag slicks on it, I dont know what size (it has HUGE wheel wells though, and a 454 that puts out like 700hp, its fun to drift around corners in since its so long, next time he stops out i will get a pic, I didn't think to

Your nose looks pretty good. Most of these have been hit in the front and have a little hood overlap.

Re: What you get when you buy a $200 camaro..

I need to pull it off again, when i was putting it on that light fixture thing that runs the length of the bumper decided to crack, so im going to see about fixing it, or replacing it, it doesnt line up 100%, but I think i can make it right with a tiny bit of bondo, and some heavy sanding, it probally would pass gm standards, but if i'm going to do this, its getting done rightm there is a slight bump where to bumper meets the fender, its not really noticeable, but it bugs me
