so as stated above i have a hood latch problem. at least i think it is. well tonight i needed to get under the hood but when i pulled the release cable it sounded like it was releasing, but not all the way. there was no pop like usual. after a few tries with just pulling the cord i did a combo of pulling the cord then gently pushing and lifting the hood. i did this for about 5 minutes and finally it popped up. is the cable messed up or the latch itself?

I have had the same problem. 2 things to try-

1) Clean the whole mechanism (front of hood) with brake cleaner. Then WD40 and some grease. This should solve it.
2) Take the spring off the underside of the hood and restretch it- they get a bit compressed over the years.

Combination of the two will sort it out.

Your problem would most likely be solved by cleaning the latch. Just spray is really good with brake clean so it moves easily and then spray it with white lithium grease and it should work like new.

 

thanks for the help, i did both restreach the spring and clean the latch. works like new thanks guys.

 

I'd also do your door & hatch latches too,it wouldn't hurt.
