cutting a hole in my hood for breater clearance? your thoughts?
from the top of my breather to my hood i only have about a half an inch maybe less and i already have the shortest filter possible.
i was thinking about cutting a hole in the hood and getting a bigger filter and letting the breather stick out and up a bit. but making the hole look smooth not sloppy. my buddy did this on his 74 nova and it looked bad *** and so did another buddy on his chevelle. i do plan on getting a cowl hood scoop for it but just dont have the money right now unless i can get one cheap.
what are yalls thoughts on this? have you seen it done? and if so do you have pics? and do you know where i can find a 3 to 4 inch cowl bond on or bolt on scoop for pretty cheap? thanks!!!!!!!

My uncle did it on his '78 camaro, it looked alright, just make sure you measure twice and cut once, also, trim it our so there isn't a jagged edge or an ugly burr.
FWIW, I wouldn't do it to my car.

cowl induction hood, that's what they're for. but half an inch? that seems like it fits so why cut it?

Just wait till you get a cowl or don't get a cowl at all. If you cut a hole in your current hood it won't be worth anything and I'd imagine you would want to sell your current hood if you got a new one.

well for as much power and torque as this new motor has i just dont like the little short filter on it. usually when i build my race engines for the race cars me and my dad build we put filters that are around 4 inches high!
but like i said if i could find a scoop pretty cheap i would put it on instead!
