weatherstripping

My RS is letting in water I don't think it is from the ttops but some how it is getting in I think that it is from the doors. the weatherstripping around the door latch is all but gone and I think that the water is coming off the ttop and running down the door channel but there isn't anything to keep it on the ooutside of the car. am I right? is there a weatherstrip kit that won't break the bank? most of what i see is a complete kit and is about $700 the whole car didn't cost that much please help.

Re: weatherstripping

Hi Tony,
I need new weatherstripping for my '88 Firebird left and right door as well, I saw on your site you have it in stock.
As I'm living in the Netherlands, shippingcosts will be expensive, I suppose.
We're spending our annual vacation in Florida this year July, maybe can I pick it up somewhere overthere?
Thanks.

Re: weatherstripping

If you want us to ship it the address in Florida during your holiday, I can do that for you and then the ship cost would be free.

Re: weatherstripping

Tony, does your weatherstripping have the plastic, small "boomerang" shaped strengthening inside the stripping at the ends, were it bolts to the door?
And about weatherstripping adhesive, can I buy this at any carparts store?
Do you recommend any special brand?

HI,

The seals do not have the small boomerang plastic part, but they are very good seals.I know some of the guys out here have bought them, and can probably chime in.

As for the weatherstrip adhesive 3M adhesive is very good we do sell it.Here's a link to it on the site.

Re: weatherstripping

A1 Autoparts doesn't want to sell their products to long time boardmembers without an US address, unfortunately.
Some strange story about creditcards addresses or something...
Anyway, are there any other online suppliers with good quality weatherstripping, besides GM...??
Next month we're in Florida on vacation, would be nice to pick it up there...!!
Anyone??

I haven't installed my weatherstripping yet, but I did buy a set of those recently and they appear to be excellent quality.

Eckler's Camaro is located in Titusville, FL. Contact them and get a price. If they are high price, telkl them that you can get it for less elsewhere. Have your prices and locations in hand because they will verify. You might be able to get the same price or better. Where in Florida are you going? You might have different options based on location.

Does Eckler's have a website?

Re: weatherstripping

Found Eckler's website.
The left door weatherstripping is $220, and the right door stripping is $314.....makes $ 534 together...
A1auto's and Hawks are asking about $ 80 for BOTH....!!

Re: weatherstripping

OK, before I damage anything, can somebody explain to me how to remove the upper part of the door inside.
I mean the ca. 4-5 inches long black upper part, next to the window.
You have to take it of to reach the two small screws that hold the upper parts of the door weatherstrip in place.
