firebird with camaro bumper
i know camaro bumper wont fit on a firebird's front but i was wondering if it was possible to cut the top part off of a camaro bumper and attach the bottom of that bumper to the top part of a firebird bumper. has anyone ever done this or can someone photoshop this.

Re: firebird with camaro bumper
Not real bad looking, but if the goal is to get the big front opening.....I think it would be easier to just cut the middles out & graft that in there.
With the whole lower section, you end up with 4 amber lights up front.

or make them into intake runners and either run them to your intake or your brakes... but the whole front look of the car makes it look like a camaro thats smoked too much and is high haha!

you did an awesome job on that photoshop. what i was saying was the side ground effects below the door don't match the bumper. i would use the camaros ground effects all the way around the car.

if they wanted something so different why are so many parts interchangeable face it firebirds and camaros are pretty much the same cars. and it aint the first time camaro parts have gone on a firebird or even the other way around

Re: firebird with camaro bumper
If you use Camaro ground effects on a 'bird, you also have to use a Camaro rear bumper, which = no place to put your license plate.

Re: firebird with camaro bumper
could you cut the ground effects off the camaro rear bumper and put them on the firebird bumper. similar to the plan for the front. my firebird has no ground effects.

another solution could be to cut the license plate recess out of the firebird bumper and attach it to the camaro bumper.

Re: firebird with camaro bumper
I've thought about moving my plate & using the plate opening to run me exhaust through.
'birds look good with Camaro door fx. Don't have a pic anymore, but its on TGO somewhere.
That is why you use the Camaro plate mount......So you can flip the plate down to reach the lock, just like you do on a Camaro.

Re: firebird with camaro bumper
Stephen are your license plates in texas smaller than mine in new york? cuz mine are an inch or two wider than my center section. if wanted to put the plate up there i would have to trim my lights.

Re: firebird with camaro bumper
It is a bit narrower than the plate, but I would have no reservation trimming the ends of my plate down to fit the space, if I were doing it. Only about 1/4" per side & just the "lip" of the plate, really.

lol, they are two different brands under the same company, all parts on the 82-92 F-body's are interchangeable, yes if you want to use a firebird fender on a camaro or viseversa you have to use the entire front clip same for the rear bumper, but other than that almost everything is a bolt on swap that may only need minor massaging to fit right, they are the same car, all came with the same option motor + trans, just look different
they didnt work that hard on changing the front, rear and dash
thats the biggest reason Pontiac died

Re: firebird with camaro bumper
i am gonna do this next winter. what would be the best way to attach the two bumpers together?
plastic welding or some kind of epoxy.
or should i just make a fiber glass mold of the two bumpers and fiberglass the molds together and make a new fiberglass bumper.
CaveCock i agree with you 100%

Re: firebird with camaro bumper
no fool, the reason pontiac died is because gm couldnt handle the competition between chevy and pontiac, never could. and as far as being the same car ive heard that enough to make me sick so you arent too original.i know they had all the same options due to the "corporate engine",if you want a bastard car go for it,i personally cant stand the thought of putting chevy body parts on a yac
did i want Pontiac to die? no.....i love all f-bodys and personally think in 4th gen terms the firebirds/trans am won in the appearance area, in fact thats what pontiac was known for was appearance when they started using Chevy drivetrains
im not going to argue over this point, im here to help the person trying to actually accomplish this feat with his car

part 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tR-cEP-8QVY
part 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INAFP...eature=related
that will show you exactly how to stitch together two bumpers, its not that hard if your good at cutting
also if you do end up doing this , instead of keeping a stock grille in the hole, i think it would look sick with the RS style billet grille

i personally think it would look better if it was painted the same as the car, it doesnt look bad as is, but if it was shiny it would look awesome.

ncmail better airflow aint my goal. my goal is simply to create a one of a kind vehicle.that does look sweet tho. one problem i would have going that route is i have the 83 trans am bumper. which already has 2 huge holes in it. so i would have to by a gta or trans am bumper.
CaveCock what does the rs billet grille look like. youtube aint working rite now ill try that again later.

ok, if youtube does start working for you and my links dont, just type in
home made body kit easy or not
thats the real name of the video and there are 2 parts
here is the RS billet grille, it says it can be used for 82-92 camaros, and can be bought from Camaro central

CaveCock earlier you said "best bet would be to cut both bumpers and drill holes about 2cm apart from each other all the way across both sections to be joined, then "stitch" them together with thin wire and fiberglass over that, then when you sand it down there should be a good enough bond to hold the pieces together, and with good body work you wont be able to see the seam of the two pieces "
i thought i read some where that you can't use fiberglass on polyurethane. something about expansion rates causing cracking. correct me if im wrong. thats why i was thinking of using an epoxy.
i like the idea of stitching them with wire but wouldn't that create a ridge after you cover it with epoxy or fiberglass. maybe if i where to do it rite on the lip of the bumper it wouldn't be noticeable.

Re: firebird with camaro bumper
oh i have no idea what can and cant be used together, lol, im just now starting to learn body work, but it sounds reasonable that cracking could happen, in the video they take a stock bumper off of the car, as far as i know its a polyurethane bumper, and graft the fiberglass aftermarket GFX bumper too it, and i cant remember if when they sanded it down the wire was also sanded then smoothed over again with bondo or fiberglass? i cant remember, but it turns out good

look up the show and go license plate holder, they sell a motorized and non motorized version, its what im going to install on mine so i dont have to drill holes in my new grille
